The chief medical officers (CMOs) at all 50 states are paid between $100,000 and $250,000 per year. That’s a lot of money and we can only imagine what they spend on their families and mortgages.
The CMO is a chief executive officer who oversees the day-to-day operations of a healthcare provider. The CMO is the individual who has overall responsibility for the healthcare delivery system for the state(s) they represent. In the United States, the job description of the CMO includes a chief medical officer, a chief nursing officer, a chief pharmacist, and a chief administration officer.
Now of course we don’t know exactly how much Chief Medical Officers make, or how much they earn, but we can get a sense of how much they spend on their families. The median CMO family income is $101,946. That’s the amount that the CMO family spends monthly on food and housing. The average CMO has three children to support. The average CMO is paid $41,928 per year.
The CMO is the most valuable and the most prestigious. We were taught that we all have a high level of wealth, but in reality, we aren’t rich enough. We have only a handful of family members to support, and we spend so much of our time in the food service, the housing, and the medical staff that we need to feed our families that we spend so much time in the medical staff that we don’t even really take care of them.
Doctors often don’t earn any more than their secretaries, but they do. If you don’t take home a salary that’s more than a few hundred thousand (or more) dollars per year, you likely aren’t making enough to afford to live your life on a more comfortable level. Your job, your lifestyle, and your health are all tied together and it’s possible that the way you live your life affects your health.
It seems that the average medical resident makes about 400-500 dollars per year. Thats about $30,000 per year on average. However, the salary of a chief medical officer (CMO) is about $150,000 per year. A CMO works with doctors and other healthcare professionals to develop policies, implement and monitor the quality of healthcare, and develop ways to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the healthcare process.
CMO are paid a lot more than medical doctors, but the salary of the CMO is lower than that of a medical doctor. That’s a bit more than a medical doctor’s salary, but still not as much as the median salary for a CMO. I would guess that the median annual salary for a CMO is around $80,000.
Some experts say that, after the ’80s when the median was around 70,000, the average salary for a medical doctor is around 200,000 (based on a survey of physicians by Gallup).
I don’t believe that anyone can accurately measure the compensation of a chief medical officer. What we do know is that the salaries of CMO’s are high. What we know also is that the compensation of a chief medical officer is directly related to the health of the country. What we don’t know is how high the salary of a CMO is going to be in the future. If they continue to increase their salaries, it is possible that in the future they could be making millions of dollars.
