This is another one of those things that is a matter of opinion. I definitely think kids should be paid for stuff they do, and I’m not going to disagree with you.

If I own a property and take care of it, then I should be paid for my labor. But if I took care of a property and paid someone else for their labor, then they could claim that the money that you paid for that labor was not for a job you did a job that you had no control over.
If you take care of a property, you should be able to claim the money you spent on the labor you did for that property. But if you are paying someone else to do a job that they do not have a say in, then they can’t claim that money that you spent on them as being not for a job that they did not have a say in.
In our case, two things are true: (1) I paid someone to do a job, and (2) I did not control the money that I spent on that job.
This is a common issue when parents are sending their children out to do chores, and it’s a major reason that when parents are able to hire personal help, they are always able to find excuses to pay them a lot less.
