As you learn to control your emotions you will begin to realize that you are in control of your emotions and that you can make them stop. This is the first step in any mindfulness practice, because if you can stop your emotions from controlling you, then you can start to use them to your advantage.
While mindfulness and meditation have a long history, there are many different forms of meditation that exist. The two most important things to be aware of when practicing either form of meditation are to sit in a quiet space, which is extremely difficult to achieve, and to quiet your mind. Mindfulness meditation, by itself, is not very difficult, but it’s important to train yourself to sit in a quiet place, practice your breathing, and allow yourself to simply allow things to unfold in your life, whether they be good or bad.
